Steps to track your Amazon order
- Log in to your Amazon account and go to Returns and Orders in the top right corner.
- Find the order you want to follow and click Track Package.
- Note the carrier name shown. Common ones include UPS, FedEx, and DPD.
- Copy the tracking number displayed on the page.
- Visit the carrier website directly and paste the number into their tracking tool for live updates.
- If the carrier is not immediately clear, paste the number into a multi-carrier tracker to identify it automatically.
- Check back 12 to 24 hours before your estimated delivery date for a confirmed delivery window.
- If the package is marked delivered but not received, check with neighbours and then contact Amazon within 36 hours.
What if Amazon used their own delivery service?
Amazon Logistics handles many deliveries in urban areas. In this case there is no external carrier tracking number. All updates appear only inside your Amazon account under Track Package, including a map view when the driver is nearby.
About this program
Where your order actually is
Amazon ships through multiple carriers depending on your location and order size. You might see a ups tracking number, a fedex tracking number, or a dpd tracking reference depending on who picked up your parcel. Knowing which carrier has your package tells you where to look.
Finding your tracking number
Go to Your Orders in your Amazon account, find the order, and click Track Package. Amazon shows the carrier name and a tracking number directly on that page. Copy it and head to the carrier site for the most detailed updates.
Carrier sites give more detail
Amazon's built-in tracker refreshes slowly. If you want real-time location data, paste your number directly into the carrier portal. For UPS shipments, ups.com shows scheduled delivery windows and driver location. FedEx offers similar detail on their site.
When the tracking stops updating
A tracking number that shows no movement for 48 hours does not always mean the package is lost. Carrier scans sometimes skip a checkpoint entirely, especially during busy periods. Wait one full business day before contacting support.
Third-party tools to track package status
Sites like Parcel Monitor or 17track let you track package shipments from multiple carriers in one place. Paste the tracking number and the tool identifies the carrier automatically, whether it is UPS, FedEx, or DPD.
What counts as a late delivery
Amazon guarantees delivery by the estimated date shown at checkout. If that date passes without delivery, you are eligible to contact Amazon for a refund or reship. Keep your tracking number handy when you call or chat.
